TRAINING

We run a number of educational programmes. 

Full-time course:
There is an organic horticulture course  which we run in conjunction with Roscommon V.E.C. This is a full time course under the VTOS programme lasting two years. It is free of cost and open to anyone over 21 years of age who has been unemployed for 6 months or more.
The course covers organic production principles, plant identification and use, soil science, plant science and food crops. It leads to a FETAC Level 5 certificate. 



Part-time organic gardening classes: -

Commencing on Wednesday 21st March 2012 at Croghan Gardens.
Running two seperate classes: - 2.30pm - 4.30pm and 6.30pm - 8.30pm
The course will enable participants to learn how to grown their own vegetables and fruit.  Throughout the year people will learn how to prepare the soil, sow seeds and maintain their plants.
This course is open to all members of the public.  It is free to all medical card holders, all social welfare recipients and all persons in receipt of a retirement pension.  In addition anyone working, who has less than upper second level education, is entitled to free tuition.  Participants will also have the opportunity to achieve FETAC certification.

Croghan Organic Gardens is pleased to announce that we have agreed our Quality Assurance Policies and Procedures with FETAC and are now registered to offer programmes leading to FETAC awards
